Rancho Alegre Farm welcomes Girl Scouts and is an approved Girls Scout facility!  Scouts love our farm for learning homesteading skills and self-reliant healthy living as well as other outdoor activities. We have a wonderful playground, garden, picnic pavilions and farm animals. Rancho Alegre is the perfect place to hold a troop meeting or other special programs and events. We are available for after-school or weekend programs.

Girl Scout Field trips can be scheduled for preferably Tuesday – Thursday and generally last 1-1 ½ hours. However, we encourage you to bring your lunch and eat under cover at one of our spacious picnic pavilions.

Our Girl Scout field trips include:

We start off with a talk inside our banquet room about our farm and how it evolved, then go over some basic rules, and then discuss our dairy along with some things you can do with milk which goes into our cheese making demonstration

• Curriculum-based environmental educational talk tailored to the group that meets Georgia Quality Core Curriculum Standards (GA QCCS) and Georgia Performance Standards.
• Learn fun facts about horses while grooming and petting one of our ponies   (Pony Rides can be added for an additional $5.00 per child, please make these arrangements in advance as it requires additional staffing)
• Stop at the garden and see, smell and touch how our vegetable, fruits and herbs grow.
• Touring the farm via a hay ride
• See where we have our bee hives, and why bees are so important to grow our food
• Stop at our worm composting area and learn how we build our soil and how if we are good with Mother Nature, she is good with us
• Petting/Feeding our farm animals
• Visit the dairy parlor and get to hand milk a goat.
• Picnic Pavilions are available for Lunch

Cost: $7 per child (with a minimum of 10 paying children)

Free or discounted admission for adults providing supervision, and accompanied children under two-years-old.
