Summer Camps at Rancho Alegre Farm Summer Camps at Rancho Alegre Farm

Rancho Alegre Farm has been approved by The Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta for horseback riding activities. Scouts love our farm for horseback riding as well as other outdoor activities. We have a wonderful playground, garden, picnic pavilions. and farrm animals. Rancho Alegre is the perfect place to hold a troop meeting or other special programs and events. We are available for after-school or weekend programs.

We are pleased to be able to offer many of the same programs available at the Scout camps. The clinics listed below are available any Monday and one Saturday of each month. Please contact us for specifics. Click on the links below or scroll down for more information.

Pet a Pony

  • $10 per scout
  • Min. 8
  • Grades K-3

Enjoy a hands-on experience in basic horse care (i.e. how to groom and care for a pony) followed by a short pony ride. Someone leads the pony/horse while the scout rides or enjoys our pony-led carousel. This activity lasts about one hour. Tennis shoes are acceptable footware for this activity. Contact us.

Intro to Horsemanship

  • $20 per girl
  • Min. 5
  • Grades 3-5

This program is designed for scouts who had had little or no experience with horses or who might be unsure about being around large animals. In this activity, the scout will learn how to groom and lead a horse, find out how horses *talk*, learn fun facts about horses, climb onto the saddle, and enjoy a short ride with an adult instructor or trained volunteer leading the horse. Depending on the circumstance,the scout might even have the opportunity to try riding without someone leading the horse. This activity lasts about one hour. Horse Fan Clinic

  • $30 per girl
  • Min. 3
  • Grades 4-5

During this clinic, scout will participate in hands-on learning stations toward earning the Horse Lover Badge. Scouts will need to complete badge requirements #1 and #8 independently or at a troop meeting prior to attending the clinic. Horse Rider Badge Clinic

  • $40 per girl
  • Min. 3
  • Grades 4-5

This three-hour program will allow Junior girl Scouts to earn their Horse Rider Badge. Scouts should already have their Horse Fan Badges before attending this session. Activities include a troop riding lesson, grooming, tacking and other barn lessons to satisfy the Horse Rider requirements. Troops may continue their day at the barn doing service projects. Horse Sense Workshop

  • $40 per scout
  • Min. 3
  • Grades 6-12

This three-hour program will allow scouts to work toward their Horse Sense Interest Project Patch. The event includes a troop riding lesson, grooming, tacking and other barn lessons to satisfy the Horse Sense requirements. Scouts will need to complete additional requirements on their own to earn the patch. Troops can complete the service project requirements y spending the day helping out at the barn. Troop Horseback Riding Lesson

  • $40 per person
  • Grades 4-12 and adults

Bring your troop out to the farm for one or more riding lessons. Work with an instructor in a spacious riding ring, and work on basic equitation. Weekly Riding Lessons

  • $40 per person (sold in sets of four rides)
  • Min. 1
  • Grades 3-12 and adults

Riders will study English or Western riding, horse care, stable management, and MORE in a structured environment with certified instructors. Riders learn gaits, position, control and finesse.
